This mod adds several vehicle controls to Grand Theft Auto 5 single player. This mod allows you to utilize undeveloped features like turn signals, window, and light controls for your vehicle. This mod also includes a car saving system that allows you to many any vehicle persistent, preventing it from despawning (NOTE: this feature is still under development and has not been fully tested).

This mod requires Alexander Blade's scripthook- which can be downloaded at http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/

FEATURES:
- Fully customizeable .INI file with rebindable keys *new in v3*
- Multiple vehicle functions including left/right turn signals and hazard lights, operable windows, engine turn off, remote car alarm, and toggleable interior light.
- Vehicle saving system; allowing you to make any vehicle persistent *new in v3*
- Ability to enable/disable features *new in v3*

CONTROLS:
The new .INI file allows you to remap keys to your liking, however, some keys require a special handler to be used when adding them to the .INI file.

Please refer to the README for instructions on how to remap the controls.

By default the key layout is:
NUMPAD0: toggle engine on/off
NUMPAD1: toggle left turn signal on/off
NUMPAD2: toggle hazards on/off
NUMPAD3: toggle right turn signal on/off
NUMPAD4: open/close back left window
NUMPAD5: while inside car, toggle interior light; while outside car, toggle car alarm on last vehicle entered
NUMPAD6: open/close back right window
NUMPAD7: open/close front left window
NUMPAD8: save/unsave current vehicle
NUMPAD9: open/close front right window

****IMPORTANT NOTES:****
This mod is still in development and many of the features have not yet been fully tested.

The car saving system is to be used at your own risk- it has not been tested through missions or multiple saves/loads. Unsaving a car will allow that car to despawn, this includes "special" cars such as character's personal vehicles. Do not trust this system to save a vehicle through a mission or reload.

The key mapping system is also vastly untested, so there may be issues with the mapping of certain keys. If you experience any issues or errors please contact the mod author via the email address given in "contact" below.

INSTALLATION:
This script requires Alexander Blade's scripthook- you can download it here: http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/


After Scripthook is installed, simply place "carcontrols.asi" and "carcontrols.ini" into the GTA5 root (i.e. ../../SteamApps/common/Grand Theft Auto V/).

To uninstall simply delete "carcontrols.asi", "carcontrols.ini", and "carcontrols.log" from your GTA5 root.

v2 is awaiting approval- it features a couple new things; most importantly a lock/unlock feature that allows you to make your car(s) persistent.

Please note this feature is very much untested, so be wary when using it and be sure to read the "Important Notes" section in the description/readme.

v3 *should* have editable key configurations- it's a pain to do in C++ </3

Correct me if I'm wrong... But since this is a script and the features included in it are already in the game, simply not accessible, it would technically be possible to utilize it online and other players could see it, right?

Don't think so, I do believe that Scripthook disables when you go online.

You can rebind keys via the INI- please see the README and keybinds.png for help doing so.

For anyone getting an error along the lines of (str != NULL) please download the hotfix available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4npxxwckrbvbexf/CarControls.asi?dl=0

Simply place the new ASI file into your GTA5 root to install (just make sure you still have CarControls.ini in there too)

I may have found a bug with the new saving system. When a saved car blows up its remains still persist and have the map marker. There is no way to unsave it as you can't get back in it. Which means that it persist forever with no way to remove it.

It would be nice if instead of persisting cars we could have persisting custom movable vehicle respawn points.

In other words make your car save option make a custom respawn point where you are at when the option is activated for the current vehicle you are in and then when it is pressed again (and you are in the same vehicle) remove the spawn point. This will make sure vehicle can always be gotten into as it will just respawn when blown up (unless of course you do not have a current respawn spot set for the vehicle)m and the respawn point can always be turned off or moved.

I do not know how hard this would be to do as I am not really much of a modder, but it sure we be cool.

Do you think you could include a speedlimiter in future update? It would be nice to stick to lower speeds for RP/roaming. Speed lock was a mod on GTA SA too, or work with gears that limit your speed.

Just an FYI, new GTA patch broke the scripthook so no scripts will work if you're running the new GTA patch. Either have to unpatch the game or wait for a new scripthook to be released </3
