Description
Dynamic vehicle deformation for classic GTA 3, ported from LocalDentVC.
The mod is experimental; feel free to report an issue
The collision model in GTA 3, in general, is much simpler than SA, and vehicle models are very low-poly, so the deformation is not that great.
LocalDent adds localized body dents, folding hoods, and trunk lids to cars. The purpose is to add vanilla-friendly deformation to a rock-solid car body.
Implemented features
- Local dents based on the actual collision point, direction, and impulse. Strength uses impulse divided by mass, rather than speed remaining after impact.
- Independent geometry for damaged player cars and nearby NPC cars.
- Folding horizontal bonnets and boot lids.
- Bonnet and boot follow the deformed body; lighting normals follow the crease.
- Side-specific rear lamp damage through III's stock lamp states.
- Accumulated damage with a displacement cap.
- F7 restores the player's car geometry.
Stock GTA 3 automobiles are the target. Bikes, boats, and other vehicle classes are skipped.
Replacement models and custom vehicle renderers need separate testing.
You can edit `LocalDentIII.ini` with the game closed. `Strength` controls dent intensity,`PanelCreaseRandomness` controls crease variation, `AffectNPCs` enables NPC processing, and `NPCRange` sets its radius. `RearDamage=0` disables additional rear lamp damage.
ASI loader is required. Widescreen Fix from ThirteenAG is recommended, and it already has an ASI loader.
Installation:
Copy the LocalDentIII.asi and LocalDentIII.ini files to the folder containing gta3.exe;
No additional CLEO script is required.
ATTENTION: This mod was created entirely by ChatGPT 6 Astra. All I did was ask for what I wanted out of curiosity, and it did all the work. I did not expect it to work, but it works perfectly fine.
